MAD FOR THE PLAID by Karen Hawkins

I had this book on my Kindle app for the longest while, waiting for when I have time between work or school to start it, and I completely forgot about it. Forgive me  +Karen Hawkins . Alisa MacKenzie has a problem. The problem is not that her father has put her in charge of the castle, the problem lies with gaining the trust of the people who work on it. Men do not take kindly to taking orders from a woman, and Alisa has to work hard in order to gain their favour so that they will not be against listening to her. She has reached a long way in gaining their trust until something goes horribly wrong. Natasha Romanovin a Russian Duchess and grandmother to the crown prince have been kidnapped along with a neighbour of theirs. Now Alisa must prove to her staff that she is the right person to lead them by getting back the prisoners as soon as possible and try not to start a clan war in the process. Everything was going as planned until Prince Nikolai comes to...

DEAREST ROGUE by Elizabeth Hoyt

I went from book one straight to book eight in this series and even though some of the characters are familiar to me, I got really confuse to as to who everyone was and how they fit together. Lady Phoebe Batten is a caged bird yearning to be free.  Her brother, A Duke, has posted guards to protect her twenty-four seven all because of a little blindness. Okay, her blindness was not a little thing since she was almost completely blind in both eyes. She can still see shapes, but only when the light is really good. Phoebe remembers a time where she was allowed to roam free and do as she wishes when her eye site became worse and worse, and now someone is determined to abduct her and do heavens knows what. It's a good thing that she has the best guard in the world who goes by the name of Captain Travillion.  Her brother hired him even having an injured leg, and her brother is known to only hire the best. Despite how he infuriates her, Phoebe feels the safest when he is ...

ONCE AND ALWAYS by Elizabeth Hoyt

Okay, this was a first to me.  I recently began reading Elizabeth Hoyt books and I am starting to really like her.  Now this book was a shock to my system, I knew her as a historical romance author, not this type.  Intrigued I requested the book and was pleasantly surprised. Sam West is a small town cop who always has the inkling to pull over speeders in town.  This particular speeder however is the elusive Maisa Bradley, also known as May, the woman who he had an amazing one night with. Sam had every intention of making it more, but she sneaked away in the middle of the night, and showed having no interest in doing it again.  Sam has done his best to get time to talk to her, but she just blows him off. Not one to give up, Sam persist until the holy grail of  a misunderstanding ended up at his doorstep. Maisa could not believe her bad luck.  First she is pulled over, again, by the sexy cop that makes her feel things she shouldn't.  Then...

NEVER JUDGE A LADY BY HER COVER by Sarah MacLean

This book was a big let down for me.  The title was promising, so was the cover.  Even the description of the book got to me and then when it got down to actually reading the book, I got a headache.  Here's why. Lady Georgiana was tricked out of her virginity.  Yes, it's the classic story of girl falls in love with boy, boy makes her many promises, girl gives up her cookies, boy says thanks and goes on his way. That was not the end of it.  Georgiana gets pregnant from that one time and she was shunned from the ton.  In her shame she fled, only to come back for whatever reason. Vowing to avenge herself, Georgiana creates a new identity named Chase, that many in London fear but must never know the true identity of. Georgiana wants to crush everyone that has ever treated her wrongly, and to do that, she must get their secrets. Ten years later, things were going well.  She built a club with the entrance fee being giving up one ...

THE SHOCKING SECRET OF A GUEST AT THE WEDDING by Victoria Alexander

This book title is such a mouthful to say, but oh what fun it is as well.  I was intrigued just by the title of the story and the story itself had me hooked. Imagine living the first 30 years of your life thinking that your father is dead only to have him show up and put your mother in the most awkward of places. It seems that is what happens to Jackson Quincy Graham Channing, Vice President of a prestigious banking facility in New York, and his father.  His mother thought that it was not fit to tell him about his father but she also failed to inform his father that he also has a son, dun, dun ,dun. Feeling betrayed and highly upset, Jackson did something that he has never done in his entire life, made a rash decision and decided to accompany his father to his home in London to meet the rest of the family. Learning that one day he would inherit both a title and a grand estate, it seems his life is getting better and better, but Jackson does not feel that way.  ...

LAST OF THE RED HOT COWBOYS by Tina Leonard

The last of the Red Hot Cowboys is a steamy, hot, romantic comedy that was is suppose to have you panting and craving for more, key word, suppose!  I was totally disappointed, let me tell you why. Ava Buchanan dreams of having a career in the rodeo circuit. She's a fabulous horse rider and believes that a woman can do anything a man can do, only better.  She agreed to be a part of a team that the major of Hell (yes that is the correct name for the town) , Judy, has decided to create to put Hell on the map. It sounded like a good idea at the time the only thing that put wrench in their plans was the people Mayor Judy had in mind to train her girls. A group of Red-Hot Cowboys (get it!) . And the worse of them all is Trace Carter. Trace Carter has seen the mayor come up with scheme after scheme and some of them become successful, but this has got to be the worst idea the mayor has ever come up with. Trace decided to tell the Judy exactly what he thin...

THE IDEAL MAN by Julie Garwood

What is your ideal man?  ls he tall or short? Dark and mysterious or fair and courteous?  There is an ideal man for each of us, and no matter how much we fantasize, when we find him, he's nothing like what we expect. This seem the case for Dr. Ellie Sullivan, she was a few hours away from finally being free of the stressful job of being a surgery fellowship at St. Vincent's Hospital in St. Louis when all hell broke loose. A few hours away from finally taking a break from school and work, she wants to take time to figure out what it is exactly she would like to do with her life, but as faith would have it, plans have a way of being screwed up. Ellie's plans were cut up into many little pieces and thrown away when she witnessed a murder right in front of her eyes. Well, an almost murder, since she was able to pull the bullet out of the shot man and now's he fit as a fiddle. Now that Ellie has completed her work, she plans to go to her parents home to attend her ...

ENTICING MISS EUGENIE VILLARET by Ella Quinn

I was devastated by this book.  It had so much potential and had me all excited and then.........and then........... (starts crying) , I just can't say it yet, go on and read my review. William, Viscount Wivenly, is determined to remain a bachelor for the rest of his life.  His elusiveness is what makes him even more irresistible to woman and William finds himself caught in many a scheme to trap him into marriage from the young ladies of the ton as well as their mother's. Finding a way to get escape from it all in the form of a task bestowed on him by his father, William sets off to the West Indies to solve the problem that seems to be plaguing a member of the family.  Once that task is down, William intends to fully sample the local wares, and I don't mean the food. Determined to help her family despite what her mother says, Miss Eugenie Villaret will stop at nothing to get to the bottom of her family's financial problems.  Enlisting the help of her ch...

TO TASTE TEMPTATION by Elizabeth Hoyt

Apparently I read this series in the wrong order.  I read the forth book first and then I read the first book in the series after. How crazy is that! Lady Emeline Gordon has taken it upon herself to teach wealthy girls the rules and etiquette in London. She does this knowing as widow and with more money than she can count, she does not have to work another day in her life. Lady Emeline is a very classy woman who thinks that everything must be done according to the rules of society.  This is why she dresses  fashionably  and flawlessly appropriate  at all times.  All was going well until Emeline agreed to introduce the sister of a moccasin wearing ex colonial soldier now successful businessman, Samuel Hartley. Samuel Hartley came to London, hunted by his past that has him running from his demons each night.  In his last mission his team was massacred by savage Indians at Spinner's Falls. One of the fallen men was Lady ...

THE EARL'S MISTRESS by Liz Carlyle

Ever wonder what it would be like to be a mistress? To be in control of a man's desires? Ever wonder what it would be like to be the mistress of an Earl? Me neither, but for one lady, she was left with no choice. Isabella Aldridge is a brilliant woman with tremendous pressure cast on her shoulders.  Having to take care of her two sisters with her job as a governess was difficult, but it became almost impossible when she lost her job. Now looking for a new post as a governess elsewhere, she was brought to the attention of an Earl.  After "interviewing" Isabella for a few seconds he dismissed her, but not before giving her some advice.  His advice was for her to become a mistress. After rightfully slapping the Earl's smug face and storming off, Isabella realized that what the Earl said was true.  No one would have her as a governess and marring her cousin was out of the question so the only thing she can do is become a mistress. Resolved in her new role to p...

THE RIGHT WIFE by Beverly Barton

All I can say is wow.  It went from pillar to post with this book and I could not fully grasp how quickly the story escalated.  When I thought it was over, another situation was slammed into my face that left me reeling.  Let me explain. Margaret Campbell is a vibrant young woman with the weight of the world on her shoulders.  After her mother's death, Margaret had to become the mother to both her younger brother and sister and times got especially rough when her father dies years later. Not knowing what to do, Margaret was grateful when her mother's brother decided to take the three of them in. Margaret was overjoyed that she can keep her promise to her father and get a better life for her siblings but things don't go according to her plan and it's all Aaron Stone's fault. Aaron Stone is on a mission, a mission to find a wife.  Not just any wife, the right wife (get it). After saving Margaret, her siblings and her colored servant at the train station, ...

TO DESIRE A DEVIL by Elizabeth Hoyt

Does being in love with a painting make you crazy? Not just any painting, the painting is a portrait of the deceased Earl of the house and title that your uncle currently holds.  The death of this past Earl was the only reason your uncle was able to gain this title and the wealth that comes with it, now imagine the portrait coming to life on your tea table? That is what happened to Miss Beatrice Corning, being in love with a painting of a dead man, Beatrice was quite surprised when he burst into her home, mad with fever, demanding his father, a man who has been dead for five years.   After this shocking display, the man then collapse to the ground, taking her table along with him.  Acting on instinct, Beatrice called for the servants to move him into a room and called for the doctor.  Her uncle just wanted to throw him out, but something in Beatrice just would not let him, an instant bond that she can not explain. Reynaud St. Aubyn has lived in hell for the ...

WINNING MISS WAKEFIELD by Vivienne Lorret

"Winning Miss Wakefield" is such an interesting title.  When you hear these words, you think of a man who is so in love with Miss Wakefield that he tries everything to win her heart, or in a more twisted way he wants Miss Wakefield in order to accomplish something and then cast her aside.  Do you like wagers?  then you're going to love this book. Merribeth Wakefield has had her reputation ripped to shreds all because her fiance of five years (FIVE YEARS) has decided he wanted to marry someone else, not giving a care as to what that would do to Merribeth's reputation. Now being shunned by the ton, a friend of Merribeth's aunt, Eve, comes up with the ridiculous and daring idea for a way to boost her confidence, she has to kiss a rake. The Marques of Knightswold also known as Bane has no time for marriage minded women.  His arrangement for woman are those of a single night and nothing more, until he meets Miss Wakefield.   His whole life, Bane has set ou...

A PROMISE OF MORE by Bronwen Evans

If you thought the first book in this series, A Kiss of lies, was hot, this book makes that one seem tame compared to this one.  Whoa, I had to fan myself to cool myself off after experiencing the heat that were coming out of the pages.  There is just something about a man name Sebastian (well to me anyway). Beatrice Hennessey is on a mission.  A mission of great importance to not only save herself but also her family. She intends to blackmail the man that murdered her brother into marriage. Yes, you heard me correctly. Not only is he incredible rich, he is also the only one who she has a hold over that will accept to marry her, a spinster. Whilst waiting for him to emerge from his ship, and altercation had her taking an unexpected dip into the Thames only to be rescued by none other than Sebastian Hawkestone, Lord Coldhurst, her brother's killer. After getting a pardon for winning a duel which resulted in the unfortunate death of a man, Sebastian Hawkestone is b...
