Swans Book Review

Okay, this was a first to me.  I recently began reading Elizabeth Hoyt books and I am starting to really like her.  Now this book was a shock to my system, I knew her as a historical romance author, not this type.  Intrigued I requested the book and was pleasantly surprised. Sam West is a small town cop who always has the inkling to pull over speeders in town.  This particular speeder however is the elusive Maisa Bradley,also known as May, the woman who he had an amazing one night with. Sam had every intention of making it more, but she sneaked away in the middle of the night, and showed having no interest in doing it again.  Sam has done his best to get time to talk to her, but she just blows him off. Not one to give up, Sam persist until the holy grail of  a misunderstanding ended up at his doorstep. Maisa could not believe her bad luck.  First she is pulled over, again, by the sexy cop that makes her feel things she shouldn't.  Then...

When I saw this in the library I was so excited I let out a little squeal but everyone still turned round and looked at me funny so apparently it was not little, but I was so excited. I read the first two books in the series and it was awesome and I want to read them all. In this book John Powell, the man they say that when who have him, no other man will do, you will imagine that every woman would be after him, and they would but he only chooses the most wounded. Okay, this book is not only about smex, it is about a man, one of the chosen, who after a unsuccessful mission, lose faith in himself and his gift and went into isolation and nothing the Gypsy Travel Agency says will ever change his mind until Genny. Genny, real name Genesis (weird right), is also one of the abandoned children even though she grew up having two parents, did not mean she got the love that a parent is suppose to give. Wow, that is all I could sum this up to about this book. This book made obeah seem harmless, still extremely dangerous and stupid, but compared to this book, yeah. It all started when Karen Sookoo received a mysterious letter that got both herself and her house burned down.  Her sister Julie, not convinced that it was a robbery gone bad, enlist the help of an ex-cop to help her find her sister’s murderers and to finally get some closure. A series of events, from various people’s lives connect together and makes Julie and her companions realize that what they are up against may be bigger than they can handle. This book was written by a Trinidadian who can write a compelling story that has you wanting more including one of the most amazing car chase and escapes from certain death I ever read.  Also a love story I was not happy with; Julie chose the wrong man, seriously.
