Swans Book Review

This was a really fun book to read.  I love books where men secretly lure you into their web of love before you realize what's happening to them.  To both the victim and the guy. Emerson Blake, but everyone calls her Emi, has a lifelong dream of owning her own Gourmet Food Truck.  A dream both she and her mother had for many years.  The first step to that dream was to enter into culinary school, and that's what Emi did. Emi was so close to her goal when disaster strikes. Her mother has become ill and her father cannot cope with the pain of losing the love of his life. This put all the responsibility on Emi to take care of her mother, father and little sister.  That made Emi drop out of culinary school in order to take care of her family. This was such a sweet book.  This romance was cute and touching and it's only book one in the series.  I'm looking forward to the rest of the books in the series. Annie Cookie left her hometown and never looked back.  She did not want to stay in the that she was most betrayed in. Unfortunately for her, her grandfather broke his wrist and would not be able to do his job.  This would not have been all that bad except that his bakery would be at risk at losing two big orders. Annie is happy to help out her grandparents, especially since they took her in when no one else wanted her, but she just wish that she did not have to go back into the place where her heart was broken. With determination, Annie returns to Turtle Pine to help her grandfather but was in for a shock.  Not only was she expected to bake seven hundred cupcakes, she also has to bake a cake for her sister that stole her high school sweetheart. I was reading this book the same time I was reading the Girls of Mischief Bay by  +Susan Mallery  and I wondered why I chose two boring books back to back.  I was so wrong on both of these books. Polly Waterford's life is falling apart.  The business she and her partner had, has gone bankrupt.  They must now give everything to the bank in order to satisfy their loans. Left with barely anything to live on, the only place that she found that she can afford to rent is someplace far away in the sleepy seaside resort of Polbearne. The place is barely livable but something about the place draws her.  Maybe it has something to do with the kitchen she found that called to her inner baker. Bread is her specialty, and when Polly kneads dough for the first time in her new place, it felt as if she was kneading all her troubles away. Twitter has gotten to be really well known and they even had it as a basis for this book.  This book was major fun; where else would you find an over six feet amazon who rocks high heels. Cassidy Shea, widely known as @TwitterGirl, has unfortunately lost her job due to poor words placement.  In the face of losing her job and the whole world hating on her, to further put a slap to her face, her boyfriend also took a hike. In the face of total ruin, a knight in shining armor comes to save the day by offering her a job for just being her Twitter Girl self.  Working close to the most eligible bachelor, Will Becker, is a huge bonus, seeing as he is running to be President of the United States of America and looking for a first lady.  Twitter Girl catches Will's eye, but so does her best friend.  Now he is dating them both and it's not clear who he likes more. Feeling down about the confusion that is her love life, Cassidy is thankful for her job....

I have the pleasure of reading my second book from Miss Betsy St Amant, she wrote a book for the A Year of Weddings Series, A February Bride, which I enjoyed very much and she did not disappoint with this one. Kat Varland gives a new term to the phrase, scaredy cat.  She complains about her life all the time but is afraid to do anything about it.  Her main problem is that she has absolutely no confidence in herself. She is fed up of always baking vanilla, strawberry and chocolate cupcakes in her aunts bakery and would like to experiment and try new things in the store but her aunt always tells her no. That coupled with her low self esteem and you have one miserable baker. It would have been okay if her family believed in her for her, but no such luck.  Unintentionally they have put Kat down throughout her life, making her feel like she is less than she is.  The only saving grace is her best friend Lucas Brannen, who picks up the slack and shows her everyday ...

The glass kitchen, when I saw it on +Facebook  I thought it was a cookbook and overlooked it, but then it kept popping up on my news feed and I finally read what it was about.  It peaked my interest and I requested it on  +NetGalley  and the rest is history.
