THE BOURBON KINGS by J.R. Ward

This book is not a book I would usually try, but I was asked to read it and I wanted to try something new.  It's amazing when you try something new and you love it. "For generations, the Bradford family has worn the mantle of kings of the bourbon capital of the world. Their sustained wealth has afforded them prestige and privilege—as well as a hard-won division of class on their sprawling estate, Easterly.  Upstairs, a dynasty that by all appearances plays by the rules of good fortune and good taste. Downstairs, the staff who work tirelessly to maintain the impeccable Bradford facade. And never the twain shall meet." Lizzie King, Easterly’s head gardener, has made a terrible mistake of falling in love with one of her bosses. The famous, in the lady department, Tulane Bradford, but everybody calls him Lane.  He broke her heart years ago and ran off, leaving her heart on the ground, shattered into a million pieces. Now, someone he holds dear to him has fallen ill...

DREAM LAKE by Lisa Kleypas

This book was interesting.  One way of looking at it is that it piggy-back off the previous book in the series, which is Rainshadow Road.  Or that it ran parallel with the book, either way, it was okay but not great. Alex Nolan had it rough as a kid.  His siblings have already left the house and it left only him to take the brunt of his parents anger at home.  Growing up in this environment has thought him not to rely on anyone, it also has him bitter and cynical. Watching as his brothers made fools of themselves since they are insane enough to believe in love, Alex battles his own demons. His brothers actually think that taking a risk can find them happiness instead of pain. Being an alcoholic, going through a divorce and battling depression, finding out that you can see a ghost does not help matters.  The kicker is, only Alex can see and talk to him and for some strange reason attached himself to Alex. Now everywhere Alex goes, there is a...

AN UNCOMMON WHORE by Belinda McBride

Usually I don't really like to read a science fiction book that is too much removed from what we use today.  This is because I have a hard time picturing what it is exactly I'm suppose to be picturing.  ( if that makes any sense to you ).  I requested this book because of the publisher and I was not disappointed. Pasha hates being a slave. Having to earn his keep on his knees on the most dangerous bar on Warlan. He tried to run away but the officials caught him and brought him back to his owner. Even if, by some miracle, he does escape, where would he return to?  With no memory of who he is, Pasha has no idea who or what is waiting for him.  Yet deep down, he knows that he is meant for more. This particular day in Warlan, Pasha discovers a dangerous looking pirate in the bar.  There was something about him that instantly caught his interest and Pasha knew that he could not let this person walk away from him.  Even if he has to humiliate himsel...
