Well well well! What do we have here with this story? Is it a love story, is it a trade or is it MURDER! I'm kidding, I'm kidding, there's no murder here. Avery Adams wants adventure. She wants to push herself outside the norm and experience life instead of just existing. This came about when she survived a kidney transplant that saved her life, but it's also a ticking time bomb that can explode at any time. This book was not the usual Rachel Lacey book and I should know, I've actually read all of them.  This is a story I've not read before and it puts to light what your brain thinks about when you think that you're about to die. Isa Delgado is terrified of flying and now she has to step foot into her first ever plane ride to help a rescue dog that only responds to her. The rescue is a husky dog named Maya who likes to run away when things get rough.  This does not help Isa with her fear of flying but the hunk who was her pilot might help matters a bit. Take off was not so bad and it relaxed Isa to see Maya calm during the flight.  Just when she thought that flying might not be so bad, everything goes horribly wrong. Now this book was the book I did not know I needed in my life. OMG, this book was good. I don't make a habit of re-reading books, but I want to read this book over and over and over again. Valentine Napier, The Duke of Montgomery, is the villain here. He has been run out of London for the evils he has done, or so most thought Valentine is ruthless and unforgiving and will do anything in his power to have his way. And right now he wants people to think that he is gone and to observe what his enemies would do in his absence.  The problem is, everyone is his enemy, what he did not expect was that one of his said enemies will send a woman to do their job for them.  Bridget Crumb takes her job as housekeeper very, very seriously. This was a nice book, but it did not live up to my expectations.  The last two books in the series that I read which are The Scandalous Adventures of the Sister of the Bride (which was my first book ever by Victoria Alexander) and  The Shocking Secret of a Guest at the Wedding .  Those two books were amazing and this one left me wanting. I was so excited to receive this book.  I read the first two books in the series, and I loved them and this book was no different. I was not fortunate to read the first book in the series, but I did get to read the second and now the third, but unfortunately I was declined to review the fourth, now I feel sad.  But that has nothing to do with just how fun and thrilling this book was to read.  Let me tell you my thoughts on The Beauty and the Barbarian. What are you suppose to do when someone is trying to kill you over your ceramic bowl.  Do you give it over without any complaints or do you hide it and let thousands of people be murdered. Well Summer Hawthorne chose to hide the urn, not knowing the ramifications of her actions, which has her placed in numerous dangerous situations. Where she is rescued time and time again from an unlikely candidate Takasji O'Brien. Takasji "Taka" O'Brien was sent on an assignment to retrieve the Hayashi Urn and to get rid of any liability, and that included Summer, but for some reason he finds himself unable to do so. Now it is up to this unlikely "couple" to keep the urn out of the evil clutches ( delusional cult ) of those who are set out to "cleanse the world".
