SORRY

I am sorry for the late entries but my internet have been cut off and I cannot update as fast as I want so again sorry. Also I would be posting my top ten most favorite authors, who would be number one, who knows, I would be posting one per week (hopefully) so look out for who I am posting.

WHEN PASSION RULES by Johanna Lindsey

In the description it sounded like this book was about war, but oddly enough it wasn't  They talked about a war but it didn't happen. Lots of plots to assassinate the King and his heir, which sis not succeed and treason and blah, blah, blahidy, blah. I do not really care about the political part of this book, just know everything came out okay, but I more cared about the love story where you can see from the book cover that the one of the main character is HOT.  He found his match with Miss Alana and they keep butting heads like a bunch of rams which of course have them getting together at the end, which is my kind of love story. The ending was anti-climactic with everything being resolved all peaceful like (which I hate by the way) and then to make matters worse they got all sappy on my, bleh but other than that I quite enjoyed the book even though I wanted to kill one or two of the characters.

THE PASTOR'S WIFE by ReShonda Tate Billingsley

DESPERATE is how I describe little miss Savannah McKinney.  To use someone’s own torment to get them to do whatever you want them to do, especially when that someone is a good man and is already dealing with a lot stress. With the pressure from the board members of his church and from his crazy shenanigans that his aunts keep putting him through is what helped pushed Terrance into the arms of Savannah in the first place.  But when her real self came out to play and Terrance got to see her for what she really is and got out of there quick, fast and in a hurry. Armed with dark secrets of the past, Savannah uses this information to get Terrance to do WHATEVER it is she wants him to and that is how I got to realize that you shouldn’t give Savannah the benefit of the doubt because if she could pull this stunt then she is a bitch and that she has to go. These decisions that Savannah has made is affecting everyone involved and then some, will Terrance let Savannah have her wa

AND MISTRESS MAKES THREE by Francis Ray

The most selfish man I have ever read about resides in this book.  This man fathered two kids and divorced them as well as his wife of fourteen years so that he can act young and play the field. Then there is a young woman who wants a young man who also wants her but is to stubborn to do something about it.  She does not give up even when his stupid man pride keeps him away from her and of course almost losing her makes him take action, men, if it wasn’t for us women nothing would be done. Now that her husband have left her and took most of her self-confidence, this now single mother of two must now support her kids without the help from their dead beat dad when an actual man comes into her life and helps make things right; but when the sorry excuse of a man come rolling back into her life, is she having second thoughts. I liked this book, even though it has the basis of being a man is had its own unique twist to it that I found was enjoyable to read, it only took me a

LET THE CHURCH SAY AMEN by ReShonda Tate Billingsley

Simon Jackson sure knows how to preach the word of the Lord but never learned how to practice what he preached.  Three children and not one of them came out the way he wanted them too, too much talking at them and not a lot of talking to them.   His wife Loretta thought it was noble of him to preach for the Lord so she never really protested about his negligence to his family.    When tragedy strikes and Simon has to stand on his own two feet against those who wish him harm without the help of his family, he had to fight his own battles, but is he fighting for the right thing, you've got to read to find out. If Simon was my husband this would not have happened and our children would not have been acting the way these kids were acting.  And what kind of father sees his son with a needle in his arm on the verse of an over dose and just leaves him like that, what kind of pastor does that make him, a fraud that’s what.

LAST BRIDE STANDING by Patricia Anne Phillips

What would you do if your wife went missing when her plane crashes somewhere in Africa? Do you sleep with her best friend, you know, the one who have been sleeping with for the past year behind your wife’s back or do you pick up with someone new? Answer all of the above. Whilst your emotions are moving like a roller coaster, your wife is lost in Africa without her memories who falls in love with a impossible but wonderful man. When her memories came back after a terrible incident and she is forced to go back home would these two people want to stay married or would they want to move on. Please, if I was her I was filing for divorce and staying in Africa with my Mandingo, but then again, I was able to evaluate the situation because I was able to read both sides of the story, all the information she had was that she was married to her husband for years and knew this man for some months.  If it was you, who would you choose?

THE FIFTY SHADES TRILOGY by E.L James

I kept hearing about this Fifty Shades of Grey book and I was intrigued enough to beg someone to borrow their copy of the book (the library doesn’t have a copy).  When my sister brought the first book home and I was so excited everybody was looking at me weirdly at home (LOL), but at last the excitement died when I started to read it, I thought it was a rip off of the Twilight book and I wanted to chuck it in the corner and sulk but I pressed on and I am glad I did.  I was waiting for Christian to get all sparkerly in the sunlight and what I got instead was like WHOAH. This book is NOT your typical boy meets girl and falls in love, love story.  In my opinion Christian Grey had way more problems than what up-bringing suggested but hey, people develop differently from abusive background and I can’t judge and the good thing is, he got through all of his issues through the trilogy thanks to the help of Anastasia Steele. When I finished the first book I made a surprised visit to

THE FESTIVAL by Kirk Budhooram

Wow, that is all I could sum this up to about this book. This book made obeah seem harmless, still extremely dangerous and stupid, but compared to this book, yeah. It all started when Karen Sookoo received a mysterious letter that got both herself and her house burned down.  Her sister Julie, not convinced that it was a robbery gone bad, enlist the help of an ex-cop to help her find her sister’s murderers and to finally get some closure. A series of events, from various people’s lives connect together and makes Julie and her companions realize that what they are up against may be bigger than they can handle. This book was written by a Trinidadian who can write a compelling story that has you wanting more including one of the most amazing car chase and escapes from certain death I ever read.  Also a love story I was not happy with; Julie chose the wrong man, seriously.

HIS SEXY BAD HABIT by Cheris Hodges

I just loved me some Antonio Billups; he is a man who is hot, works with his hands and put the interest of his son before his own, now that’s a man.  Unfortunately, his past keeps him from opening his home and his heart to the love of a woman who can make his past pain go away until Serena. Serena is independent and sexy woman who does not want to make the same mistake she did in the past; which so happens to be entrusting her heart to a man who ripped it out, threw it on Holy ground and danced all over it, in the most painful of ways. People who are connected to both of their painful past join forces to get what they want, no matter what the cost.  BUT, are they both enough to crush the blossoming love of Serena and Antonio, you’ve got to read the book to find out.

CAFE' AU LAIT by Liane Spicer

Oh my Goodness, I absolutely loved this book, mostly because it was based on my home country, which you have to read the book to find out. Shari Zamore , wanting to get away from her stupid idea of being in love with a pathetic excuse of a man, escapes to the home country of her parents, to relax and de-stress herself; where she met the most rude man, turned most wonderful man who turned into a complete jerk. Michael Chancery is this man who lets his past hamper with his future (a lot of these types of books always seem to have this problem, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm).  Would it be too late before he lets them both miss out on the best thing they ever had, which of course is each other. This book displays the beautiful scenery, landscapes, fauna and flora of my wonderful Caribbean country.  It makes me want to take a tour of my country for myself; this book paints a vivid picture of my country and the local fruits and dishes that I grew up enjoying.  This book is enjoyable

THE END OF MY CARIBBEAN EXPERIMENT

Okay that was my Caribbean experiment and I loved it. I realize how much I was missing out on and plan to incorporate Caribbean themed books in my further readings from the Library.

NIGHT OF THE INDIGO by Michael Holgate

At first I was confused but as the story continued further down, I started to better understand what was taking place.  I especially like the part when Old Man said that “a rock and a tunnel mated and gave birth to the universe”.  I laughed and read that part over and over; it still makes me laugh thinking about it. This story was original with its story line as well as their characters.  The “chosen One” acted like someone who was taken against their will, who did not truly believe the crazy story they told him nor did he want to go any further unless they told him why he had to go in the first place. I liked the story, the character, especially the race of people that are born sexless and can turn either into a male or into a male when it is time to mate.

TIME SWIMMER by Gerald Hausman

I did not like this story one bit.  When reading this book it felt like I was watching a tennis match with six players playing the same game all at once.  It was going from one place to the otherwise not making much sense to me. What kind of ending was that, who ends a book the way this man did, it makes it all seem that what they did not even matter.  The key holder just came and gave them back everything that they both wanted and needed.  Odysseus got his wish and returned home to his wife and son and so did Luck, and that was that. Apparently the “Gods” had nothing better to do than to offer them deals that can results in their deaths by saying a story that they cannot guess the ending too.  So all the powerful “Gods” had nothing better to do than listen to some dumb stories, because the stories weren't all that great, neither where the poem at the end.  Mr. Hausman had a good story concept but poor execution in my opinion.

BROWN GIRL IN THE RING by Nalo Hopkinson

“There is a Brown Girl in the ring” is a popular ring game that is played by the children of my home country and apparently in all the Caribbean Countries.  The book scared the snot out of me, but I still read it all the way to the end because I was oddly intrigued. Where I come from, from young you know NOT to mess with no obeah, and nothing that Mami says from the book can change my thought about obeah, no matter how much people she helped with her “Spirit Friends”, obeah is not good, not good at all and something that should never ever be dabbled in. Ti’Jeanne is a strong seer and must call on her friends from the other side to stop a strong and dangerous and evil crime boss, who likes to strip the skin off his victims whilst giving them enough drugs in there system to stay alive throughout the whole process. Ti-Jeanne must allow the spirits to “ride her” to stop him and save her family and everyone she cares about.  I do not care, I do not care, nobody is catching

THE GARRISON by K.Sean Harris

The first book on my Caribbean week is The Garrison.  The writing style was very good and I found out that I had to read the dialect out loud for me to understand what the characters were saying.  Apparently I have to hear the words out loud to properly understand what Bambino and his gang was saying. The story follows a brief time in Rosewater Meadows was controlled by a gang which was run by Birdman with our main character, Bambino, as his right hand man.   Bambino, at eighteen, is the youngest person in the gang but also the coldest hearted.  He cares for nothing but making paper and killing when it suits him. A series of events that occurred to various people remarkable connect to Bambino who at the end died by the gangster code. “Yuh live by de gun, yuh die by de gun.” I did not like how the book ends.  Nobody got a happy ending, nobody; except maybe the rival gang who took over Rosewater Meadows where the only ones who got a happy ending. I guess that this book ju

THIS WEEK'S SELF CHALLAGE

Hello my viewers, this week I am focusing on Caribbean books, written by Caribbean authors.  I come from one of the Caribbean countries, and in the Library, they have shelves of books from both local and other Caribbean countries books and I never even thought of reading it before, until now. Who knows, I might like the books so much, I might make it a regular habit to include them to my regular arsenal of book borrows.  Hope I encourage people to read books from their home country.

CHASING FIRE by Nora Roberts

In this book it goes into the lives of the Zulie’s A.K.A the Fire Jumpers.  How Mrs. Roberts describes the job of the Fire Jumpers makes me feel like I am really there, feeling the adrenaline from jumping out of a plane ( something I would never really do ) and feel the heat of the flames. Rowan Tripp ( who reminds me a little of Eve Dallas ) is one of the best Fire Jumpers, just like her father nick named “Iron Man”, is a woman who does not mix business with pleasure.  A newbie Zulie comes along with the power to change her mind and make her like it to. Even her father is getting his romance on and even though the part of the book where he and his lady friend was “getting it on” was extremely disturbing to me, the rest of their romance was sweet and wonderful. No book comes without conflict and this one comes with a whopper of a conflict.  People are being murdered and setting the bodies on fire, which the Fire Jumpers have to put out, where burns and injuries are rece
