MY TOP READS OF 2014

These are the books that are the most memorable to me for this year. Here are, in no particular order, my top reads for 2014.

THE RED BOOK OF PRIMROSE HOUSE by Marty Wingate

This book was...something else.  It had no excitement and there was no mystery.  I knew who the murderer was very early on in the book and I was just wishing that the book would just get to the point already. Pru Parke has gotten the job of her dreams.  She got the position of head gardener at an eighteenth-century manor house in Sussex.  The landscape of Primrose House was originally designed by Humphry Repton. It is Pru's job to restore the garden to it's former glory with guidance from one of Repton's famous red books. Pru is excited and up to the task when a murderer throws an ax into her plans. One of Pru's gardening crew has been brutally murdered and an investigation is undergone to catch the culprit who did it. Not being new to dead bodies, Pru starts asking questions to get to the bottom of this mystery.  With the help from her sexy inspector, Christopher Pearse.  Now it is up to Pru to finish the garden, dig into the mysterious background of her

THREE WEEKS WITH LADY X by Eloisa James

This book is AWESOME but also a thought into woman's mind.  At first I was on Lady X side but when I finished the book and gave it some thought, she set herself up for heartbreak.  Here's what happened. Lady Xenobia India is no quitter.  When life threw her down, she got up, dust herself off and got right back into it. Having grown up in to odd and heartbreaking parents, Lady Xenobia vowed to never be like her them. She worked hard to make a name for herself by charging alarming fees to redesign people's homes and after doing it for many years, Xenobia decided that it's time to stop. Now her new quest is to find a husband and it cannot be from the hundreds of men who have already proposed to her. ( Long Story ) She has an agenda, and that is to never marry for love. Having made his own fortune, Thorn Dautry, having been born out of wedlock, decides it's time to marry. But in order to marry the lady of his choosing, he must first win the acceptance of th

TWITTER GIRL by Nic Tatano

Twitter has gotten to be really well known and they even had it as a basis for this book.  This book was major fun; where else would you find an over six feet amazon who rocks high heels. Cassidy Shea, widely known as @TwitterGirl, has unfortunately lost her job due to poor words placement.  In the face of losing her job and the whole world hating on her, to further put a slap to her face, her boyfriend also took a hike. In the face of total ruin, a knight in shining armor comes to save the day by offering her a job for just being her Twitter Girl self.  Working close to the most eligible bachelor, Will Becker, is a huge bonus, seeing as he is running to be President of the United States of America and looking for a first lady.  Twitter Girl catches Will's eye, but so does her best friend.  Now he is dating them both and it's not clear who he likes more. Feeling down about the confusion that is her love life, Cassidy is thankful for her job.  But things take a m

MERRY CHRISTMAS BABY by Jill Shalvis

It feels so wrong reading this book before even reading Chloe and Sawyer's story.  But first come first serve ( most of the time anyway ). Wild child Chloe Thompson cannot believe how her life has turned out and she has the stomach to prove it.  Having a bun in the oven is making Chloe more cranky than usual.   She takes most of her frustration out on her sexy ( but not as sexy as Ford ) husband  Sawyer, which may or may not have put a strain on their relationship.  Hating that Sawyer is constantly put in danger because of his job, since he has taken on more work recently.  Chloe wonders if Sawyer really has to go on these missions or if he does it just to get away from her. Feeling terrified and alone in a room filled of people who love her, all Chloe wants for Christmas is the reassurance that Sawyer loves her, and of course, Sawyer himself. But going a week without her husband is driving her mad, especially since she is close to her due date.  Would Sawyer make it b

RING ON HER FINGER by Lisa Swinton

This book got me so angry.  This girl was not serious.  She did not deserve him and I wished he realized that he was better off without her and move on. Amanda St. Clair had a "What happens in Vegas" moment when she married the rich playboy, Blake Worthington, whom she loathed for the past four years.  Having the worst hangover of her life was not helping matters and all Amanda wanted was out of this so call marriage. With a promise to have the marriage annulled from her "husband", Amanda returns home, praying for this to end with no-one finding out about her stupid mistake. Her mistake was not so easily solved when Blake showed up on her doorstep, claiming that his parents cut him off and he has to pay for the annulment himself. Not wanting the spoiled rich kid to mingle with her family, but seeing as how she has no choice, she reluctantly allows Blake to stay. As the weeks went by and Blake did not go running back to his parents, Amanda sees a new sid

CHRISTMAS IN LUCKY HARBOR by Jill Shalvis + BONUS

Two wonderful stories about family, love and determination.  I loved all the characters in this book and the stories just got better with each new story.  BONUS!  There are two short stories for your enjoyment at the end of the book! Simply Irresistible Maddie is having a not so good life right now.  She has just broken up from a bad relationship, lost her job and is close to being penniless.  Not wanting to lose faith, Maddie puts on a brave face and drives to Lucky Harbor where her mother left her and her two sisters an Inn. Feeling good about herself, things came crashing down when she ran someone off the road for one.  The other is that when she arrived at the Inn, it was to discover that it was nothing more than a ramshackle building in need of being torn down. Her sisters decided to sell, but knowing that this is her only shot, Maddie convinces them to take a chance on her. Would she fail them and herself, or would Maddie find everything that she was looking for and

THE VISCOUNT'S CHRISTMAS TEMPTATION by Erica Ridley

Hmmm, The Dukes of war book 0.5?  Yeah I know, it's weird to read a book marked as 0.5 in a series, yet it has intrigued me. Lady Amelia Pembroke is what you would call a control freak, but in a good way.  She does not rub her knowledge in your face and make you feel inadequate.  She just goes to her memory pantry (yes you heard me right) and predict things that would happen and put things in place to help. Everyone loves and adores her. Including her younger brother who Amelia suspects has not taken a wife because of her.  So in order to remedy that, she knows that she must marry first.  The best way to meet all of her candidates is at the Sheffield's annual Christmas Ball. The only problem with this plan is that there is not going to be a ball this year since the building to host the even was struck by lightning and burned down. Not the one to have such trivial things stand in the way of her plans, Amelia takes it upon herself to safe the party, whether the host w

ROOMIES by Lindy Zart

I am a Zartian, hear me roar ( more like write a review ).  Earlier on my blog I posted about Roomies, which is a story about how a complected girl was in love with her roommate.  Things get iffy when his brother comes into the picture and a whole load of goodies took place.  Here's what happen. Kennedy Somers is one weird girl.  Yes you heard me, Kennedy is a she.  Blame her father for wanting a boy.  Kennedy is in love with her roommate Graham Malone and it hurts to be near him.  It also hurts to be away from him, so what did she do, she chose to stay near him. Kennedy thinks the world of Graham.  He makes her smile, laugh and accepts her for who she is, a crazy girl who is brutally honest.  Kennedy wants nothing more than to tell Graham how she feels, but fear stops her every time. Graham is to perfect, to hot, to mesmerizing to ever fall in love with a girl like her.  ( Well that's her thoughts anyway ) and Kennedy decides that it's not worth it to risk what th
