HOW TO PURSUE A PRINCESS by Karen Hawkins

The Duchess is up to her old tricks again.  This time, she has gone to far and may have damaged any chance of her god daughter and god son of ever getting married.  Let me explain! Lily Balfour is backed into a corner, with only one way out and that is to marry a wealthy man.  Let's go back a few steps, Lily's father is not a very capable man and took a loan from his neighbor to build a green house. Now the neighbor is demanding his money back, with interest within a month, but all the money her father borrowed is now completely gone. With Lily being the second eldest, it is up to her to marry well to save her family from ruin; since the eldest daughter has just recently married and is on her honeymoon.  How can Lily find a rich husband in such a short time, with the help of her fairy godmother of course, minus the fairy part.  Her god mother has been trying for years for Lily to come to her home and find a suitable husband and it just seems so conven...

LAST OF THE RED HOT COWBOYS by Tina Leonard

The last of the Red Hot Cowboys is a steamy, hot, romantic comedy that was is suppose to have you panting and craving for more, key word, suppose!  I was totally disappointed, let me tell you why. Ava Buchanan dreams of having a career in the rodeo circuit. She's a fabulous horse rider and believes that a woman can do anything a man can do, only better.  She agreed to be a part of a team that the major of Hell (yes that is the correct name for the town) , Judy, has decided to create to put Hell on the map. It sounded like a good idea at the time the only thing that put wrench in their plans was the people Mayor Judy had in mind to train her girls. A group of Red-Hot Cowboys (get it!) . And the worse of them all is Trace Carter. Trace Carter has seen the mayor come up with scheme after scheme and some of them become successful, but this has got to be the worst idea the mayor has ever come up with. Trace decided to tell the Judy exactly what he thin...

A PROMISE OF MORE by Bronwen Evans

If you thought the first book in this series, A Kiss of lies, was hot, this book makes that one seem tame compared to this one.  Whoa, I had to fan myself to cool myself off after experiencing the heat that were coming out of the pages.  There is just something about a man name Sebastian (well to me anyway). Beatrice Hennessey is on a mission.  A mission of great importance to not only save herself but also her family. She intends to blackmail the man that murdered her brother into marriage. Yes, you heard me correctly. Not only is he incredible rich, he is also the only one who she has a hold over that will accept to marry her, a spinster. Whilst waiting for him to emerge from his ship, and altercation had her taking an unexpected dip into the Thames only to be rescued by none other than Sebastian Hawkestone, Lord Coldhurst, her brother's killer. After getting a pardon for winning a duel which resulted in the unfortunate death of a man, Sebastian Hawkestone is b...

AT THE DUKE'S PLEASURE by Tracey Anne Warren

All the books I choose are like a yo-yo, first one disappoints me and then the next one makes up for it. I'm still in my "trying something new" phase and even with the disappointments in some books, I'm loving trying new authors.  At the Duke's Pleasure is an awesome read that will have you laughing. Edward Byron, Duke of Clybourne, has had his life planned out since the day he was born.  What school he had to attend, the friends he was to keep and worst of all, what bride he was to take.  This was too much for a boy of ten to take and he rebelled (quietly) against having a bride, ten years his junior.  Now Edward is in his early thirty's and finally saw the wisdom of his father choosing a bride for him, but when he goes to claim his bride, would she have him? Claire Marsden has always known that she was to marry a Duke and has been excited about the marriage until her heart was broken at the tender age of sixteen. To further add insult to injury, her...

REBELLIOUS DESIRE by Julie Garwood

First off I have to say that this cover was not done good at all, OMG, this is such a poor Photoshop work and it irritates me so bad, I want to jump on my computer and redo it or sweep under the rug and forget that it ever existed. I only bought this book because of it's author. Caroline Richmond after being away from her father for over fourteen years is finally able to go back home, but she has second thoughts about going backing, thinking that it is hard for her to back to a father who she thought had abandoned her all those years ago. On her arrival to England, she saved a man from robbers by shooting them and that is where she met Jered Marcus Benton, the Duke of Bradford.  The only man that can make her forget herself and make her not feel in control; and with someone out to get her due to revenge, he is the only man she can thrust.  Jered Marcus Benton, after a scaring experience in his life, vow never to get smitten with another woman ever again, but that vow ...

SLEEPLESS IN SCOTLAND by Karen Hawkins

This is not the final book of the series, but this is the last book that I have of the series on my bookshelf.  I keep going to the bookstore, but they do not have any copies of the last book and the store I bought all the other copies moved and did not tell me where. Hugh MacLean wanting to protect his brother from falling into the hands of who he "Hugh" thinks has evil intentions for his oldest brother Alexander;has set a trap for the unlucky lady who dared to mess with his family.  Unfortunately in setting out to prove that he was right, he caught someone else instead and did not realise until it was too late the error of his way. Catriona Hurst, having heard about the ridiculous scheme that her twin sister has cooked up this time, rushed to London in other to stop her sister from making one of the biggest mistake of her life.  Catriona had set out to save her sister from a trap of her own making but instead have been captured instead. Now the only way to ...

TO CATCH A HIGHLANDER by Karen Hawkins

This book comes after "To Scotland with Love", as I have mentioned in my last post, each book can be read independently, but I do not recommend it. What would you have done if your father was given the task of selling some jewelry to fix the roof but comes home instead and have lost everything in a gamble. If it was me I would have been furious but not Sophia MacFarlane.  She loved her father and when she learned who he lost the house too, she came up with a plan to win her house back, not fully understanding what really was at stake. Lord Dougal MacLean, having won the deed to a house came to claim his prize when the beautiful that was described to him turned out to look like an unfinished dump.  Unfortunately for them, but fortunately for him, Dougal overheard the plan that they had cooking for him and was able to take all that they threw at him and more. Of course what she was fighting for was something that was most precious to her but what he was fighting fo...

LADY JASMINE by Victoria Christopher Murray

It seems that I have been choosing many church theme books from my local Library lately and this is one of the good ones. Lady Jasmine has become first lady of City of Lights at the expense of her father-in-law being shot into a coma, but she's not complaining. Now that Jasmine have reached where she wanted to, the members of City of Lights who still hold her in contempt for her many past crimes, would now have to listen and respect her. Her triumph is short lived however when lo and behold, someone begins to blackmail her into convincing her husband to step down as minister, or else. Now it is up to Jasmine to find incriminating evidence of all the likely suspects that are out to get her husband to turn the tables by blackmailing her blackmailer, whoever that may be, before her past brings great shame and pain to her future. I like this book very much, at first I did not like how the author revealed Jasmine's secret so early in the book, but as I read on I saw h...

BASKETBALL JONES by E.Lynn Harris

I heard about this author in a young adult book I was reading and I instantly went out to the library to see if I found any of his books.  This is the only one they have by E . Lynn Harris. Aldridge "AJ" Jones is a kept man. He has access to the best of everything and does not even have to work a regular job. It's all thanks to his man, Dray Jones, an NBA all star whose still stuck in the closet.  The two of them "supposedly" fell in love in college and their relationship is still to this day.  Even when Dray married a woman all because his team mates were asking too much questions. AJ encouraged Dray to marry, because he wants his man to be happy.  AJ always tells himself that he does not need Dray, he just chooses to be with him out of love. When a blackmailer threatens to expose their secret, would Dray finally stand up and reveal who he really is?  Or would he end the relationship and leave AJ with a broken...
