CRASH AND BURN by Rachel Lacey

This book was not the usual Rachel Lacey book and I should know, I've actually read all of them.  This is a story I've not read before and it puts to light what your brain thinks about when you think that you're about to die. Isa Delgado is terrified of flying and now she has to step foot into her first ever plane ride to help a rescue dog that only responds to her. The rescue is a husky dog named Maya who likes to run away when things get rough.  This does not help Isa with her fear of flying but the hunk who was her pilot might help matters a bit. Take off was not so bad and it relaxed Isa to see Maya calm during the flight.  Just when she thought that flying might not be so bad, everything goes horribly wrong. Nate lives to fly.  He's been flying for as long as he can remember. That's why he did not foresee any problems in flying a lady and her dog to their destination. Things don't go as planned when in the middle of their flight, shit hit t...

SUMMER AT LITTLE BEACH STREET BAKERY by Jenny Colgan

It was so good to go back to The Little beach Street Bakery and meet the gang once again.  Even with the bad times that overcame them, it was still fun to go back. Polly Waterford could not be happier. She lives in the small town of Mount Polbearne that she loves.  She runs a bakery where she is practically in charge of everything. And best of all, she lives with her boyfriend Huckle, who she is absolutely and totally in love with.  Live could not be better. Yet a strong wind blow across the small town of Mount Polbearne, bringing trouble in its wake. Selina is a grieving widow, who can't seem to get over her husband's death.  Trying a new approach of getting better, Selina moves into the town her husband was born, raised and tragically died in. Polly is embarrassed by something she has done to Selina in the past, but Selina does not know that Polly did her wrong and the two women become friends.  Tragic things have happened to Pol...

ALL I WANT by Jill Shalvis

I really liked this book.  The chemistry between the two were instant and the kiss at first sight just made everything much more interesting. Zoe Stone is a pilot for hire who practically raised her brother and sister by herself while their parents traveled all over the world. Being both parents to her siblings has put a big dent in her dating life.  Putting herself out there, Zoe took some advice from her sister to mix things up and kiss her blind date as soon as she opens the door. Unfortunately, Zoe ended up kissing the wrong man. Instead, of her blind date ( who stood her up ) she kissed her bother's friend Parker.  The same friend Zoe promised to let stay at the house for a week. Mortified by her behavior, Zoe tried to stay out of his way, but with Parker's magnetic personality and his ability to get under her skin, Zoe finds herself wanting to jump him instead. The spark between the two intensifies when Parker hires her to fly him around the ...

SWEETEST SCOUNDREL by Elizabeth Hoyt

This book is labeled as a Historical Romance, but I think that it's fair to warn you that it is also one of the best erotic romances I have read this year, maybe ever.  Elizabeth Hoyt made the words "May I" sound like the sexiest thing you can ever hear from a man. Eve Dinwoody was traumatized by something terrible in her past which has made her terrified of both dogs and men.  But Eve did not let that her fear totally rule her life.  She tries to life her life in a way that is comfortable to her with her friend and guard Jean-Marie by her side. When her brother was forced to "leave" London, he put her in charge of his funds.  Determined to help her brother, Eve goes to the pleasure garden that he is funding to know where all the money her brother is putting in the place is being used. When she meets Asa, her life was never the same again especially when she cuts off his funding to rebuild his dream. I had so much fun reading about Eve's rea...

A TASTE OF SUGAR by Marina Adair

Marina Adair is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.  The description of the book was spot on and if you have been with my blog for a while, you know that I adore book covers with animals on it. "We're still married." Those were the words that turned Charlotte Holden's entire life, upside down. She thought that her secret marriage with the town's bad boy, Jace McGraw, was over and down with years ago and did not anticipate nor need this kind of complication in her life. Nursing her broken heart was tough enough and having poured all her energy into creating the Grow Clinic in her small hometown of Sugar, Georgia, Charlotte does not have any room for a secret ex-husband. Having this secret come out would not only ruin her reputation in Sugar, it might also ruin her chances of Hosting the best Founder's Day Parade to pursue a big-city donor into investing into the Grow Clinic. Charlotte's only choice is to get an annulment and fast, but ...

EVER AFTER by Rachel Lacey

First off let me just tell you how much I love this cover. OMG, it's light and cute and you can just feel the magic that is contained in the book.  I just adore animals on book covers. I instantly look up the books that I see animals or children on the cover. Wth that said, on to my review Painting the side of a brain is not what Olivia Bennett had in mind for her 29th birthday. But when you have enough drinks in your system, anything is possible, especially when you are trespassing on other people's property and defacing their building. Olivia is not trying to relive her teenage days if that's what your thinking, she's trying to stand up for the animals that not much people want to stand up for. She stands up for the cruel injustice that chickens go through before they are brought to the slaughter house in her local chicken farm. Yes, and I did mean chickens. Before she can finish writing her message, however, bright lights flashed on her and the so-called...

NEED YOU FOR KEEPS by Marina Adair

This book reminded me of +Rachel Lacey 's  book series Love and Rescue.  I instantly related to the book because of this, but the book is loveable by itself. Shay Michaels would do anything to save the furry residents of St. Helena, Califonia. Being a pet groomer in the town, as well as a pet rescuer, Shay hands her hands full 24'7. Even when she is filled to capacity, if anyone comes to her with an animal in need of a home, Shay can never turn them away. Even though, she gets into a lot of trouble for her selfless deeds. One of the people she has to deal with on almost a daily basis is Deputy Jonah Baudouin.  Shay finds him hot and hard to resist but resist him she must. Shay knows Jonah is not looking for a woman like her, and since he is running for Sherriff, he does not need her running his name in the mud. Jonah knows that he should stay away from Shay, but there is something about her that just draws him to her.  It does not help matters that...

UNLEASHED by Rachel Lacey

I read this series out of order, but I did not get confused.  Each book can be read on its own, but to better understand the story, you should read all the books. Cara Medlen cannot believe her home owners association. They want her to get rid of her dogs, and to never bring a new one home.  This is a very difficult thing to do, since she is one of the few foster homes for Triangle Boxer Rescue.  Which her best friend Mary had founded. None of the dogs she takes in are hers to keep, but she falls in love with them all and cry happy tears when they go to loving families.  The reason for not keeping any of the animals for herself is that Cara has a ten year goal in mind, and in her focus to reach that goal, Cara decided not to get attached to anything or anyone. Her plans take a nose dive when she finally met her sexy (totally smoking hot, if you ask me) next door neighbor, who she has been eyeing for the past year, but did nothing about it. Matt Dumont a...

FOUR NIGHTS WITH THE DUKE by Eloisa James

This is my second book of  +Eloisa James  and I now can confirm that she is an author  I would very much like to hear more from.  I loved this book, especially the heroine. Emilia Carrington, when she was a young girl, had the misfortune of learning that the boy she was in love with, was nothing more than an insensitive toad. Years later, after claiming that she would never marry him, even if he was the last man in England, she finds herself, asking him to marry her. Evander Brody cannot believe that this little scrap of a girl dared to propose marriage to him, a Duke.  After he refused her, she pulled out the big guns which, if exposed, would revoke his title. Vainly thinking that this is some pay back for what happened all these years ago, Vander tries to shock her enough to back out of this foolish idea. When that did not work, he thought he would deny her what she wants, and only allows her four nights a year to go to bed with him and only if sh...

FOR KEEPS by Rachel Lacey

I love books that contain children and animals and this book was really promising since it contained both.  I have not heard about  +Rachel Lacey  but I'm glad I found her.  This was a great book. Merry Atwater ( weird name ) is in trouble.  She's bankrupt, well her dog rescue is bankrupt and she, nearly so.  In need of a miracle, but what she got instead is another dog to take care of. TJ Jameson needs a dog handler for his Children's Camp.  TJ hates dogs but knows that having a dog at the camp would be a way to get through to his artistic nephew. He needs a tame, well trained dog for this job and Merry is just the person he needs, except for one thing, she wants him to foster one of her dogs. Merry knew this job was a God send and did not want to screw it up.  It's just that when she saw the ranch and all the big open spaces, she knew that TJ's ranch would be a perfect place for her dogs to stay until she can find a fixed home for them....
