MY THOUGHTS ON JULIE GARWOOD'S BOOK COVERS by Swanangel15

If you are like me, you would pick up a book based on the cover.  I know the old saying "Don;t judge a book by its cover" but I can't help it.  I'm a graphic designer ( well I'm training to be one ) and designs always catches my eyes.  Since I love books so much, I always pick up a book that is pleasing to my eyes and then read the description on the back and when that fails, pick up a random book and do the same. One of my favorite authors is  +Julie Garwood  and from my mom's old collection of books I've seen some beautiful book covers from her even though I lost one of them ( I will find whoever lost it and they will pay ). Now, I only choose Julie Garwood's books based on the author alone. Seriously, I would not have looked twice at the reprinted version of her books if she was not already established in my mind.  I know it's a little harsh but in my opinion, an amateur designer designed these new book covers and did a poor j

AN AUGUST BRIDE by Debra Clopton

Thank goodness that the series got back on track.  Why am I doing August instead of July?  Mainly because I got approved for this book before the others. I've answered your question now on to my review! A cowboy will always leave an impression on you especially if that cowboy leaves you at the alter.  Kelsey Wilcox has had the humiliation of her fiance leaving her for a life of the rodeo. Trying to get away from the pain, Kelsey traded in her boots for flip-flops and opened up her own bistro away from the cowboy life she grew up in. Two years later and still smarting from the insult, Kelsey has to attend her cousin's wedding and to make matters worse her aunt and her matchmaking friends are going to be there and Kelsey knows that they have her in their sights next. Arriving at the rehearsal dinner in a ridiculously heavy dress, an unforeseen circumstance has Kelsey diving in the surf to the rescue, but because of her dress, Kelsey is the one who ended up needing resc

A JUNE BRIDE by Marybeth Whalen

I don't believe this.  This series was going so good for me and then this book came along and put a snag in the series for me.  This book did not live up to the standard of the other books and I will tell you why. Wynne Hardy ( a woman ) had her heart broken by her fiance who she has been going out with for years.  Wynne thought that the best way to get over her heart break and start over is by signing up for a dating television show ( huh ). The television show is called "Rejection Connection" where she met Andy.  She choose him over all the other guys and then he purposes to her on national television. What is a girl to do than say yes.( right ) Not knowing if she really wants to marry Andy, Wynne tries to convince herself that it was the right thing to do and goes along with the world wind that is her wedding. Which by the way is sponsored by the producers of the show and would be aired live for everyone to see. Things get even more complicated when a wannab

THE SHOCKING SECRET OF A GUEST AT THE WEDDING by Victoria Alexander

This book title is such a mouthful to say, but oh what fun it is as well.  I was intrigued just by the title of the story and the story itself had me hooked. Imagine living the first 30 years of your life thinking that your father is dead only to have him show up and put your mother in the most awkward of places. It seems that is what happens to Jackson Quincy Graham Channing, Vice President of a prestigious banking facility in New York, and his father.  His mother thought that it was not fit to tell him about his father but she also failed to inform his father that he also has a son, dun, dun ,dun. Feeling betrayed and highly upset, Jackson did something that he has never done in his entire life, made a rash decision and decided to accompany his father to his home in London to meet the rest of the family. Learning that one day he would inherit both a title and a grand estate, it seems his life is getting better and better, but Jackson does not feel that way.  He finds out t

THE LAIRD WHO LOVED ME by Karen Hawkins

YES!  My first purchase ever online and it was to get the final book in the MacLean Curse series.  I ordered it and waited impatiently for it to arrive and when it did, with other books and items, I was squealing all over my house and my family was watching me like if I was crazy, but I did not care. After all the excitement I waited a few more days before I read the book and consumed it within one day.  Happy and heart broken, they always say that the journey is what people look forward for rather than the end.( SIGH ) On to my review! The totally handsome and self-absorbed ( yes, you heard me ) Alexander MacLean could not handle a little lady like the lovely Caitlyn Hurst, so he orchestrated her invite to a private house party in order to seek his revenge.  Why you may ask, because she "embarrassed" him in front of the entire ton. ( Even though he started it! ) Caitlyn Hurst is determined to redeem herself. After her disastrous London season, she feels a great deal

The Duchess is up to her old tricks again.  This time, she has gone to far and may have damaged any chance of her god daughter and god son of ever getting married.  Let me explain! Lily Balfour is backed into a corner, with only one way out and that is to marry a wealthy man.  Let's go back a few steps, Lily's father is not a very capable man and took a loan from his neighbor to build a green house. Now the neighbor is demanding his money back, with interest within a month, but all the money her father borrowed is now completely gone. With Lily being the second eldest, it is up to her to marry well to save her family from ruin; since the eldest daughter has just recently married and is on her honeymoon.  How can Lily find a rich husband in such a short time, with the help of her fairy godmother of course, minus the fairy part.  Her god mother has been trying for years for Lily to come to her home and find a suitable husband and it just seems so convenient that she go

AN APRIL BRIDE by Lenora Worth

Dun, dun, da dun, dun, dun, da, dun.  I hear wedding bells again and I can't get enough of it.  I've never been to a wedding, I know sad right, but I can experience them in novels like this one. It is very difficult, planning a wedding.  Everything must be perfect.  Perfect dress, perfect location, perfect flowers, perfect color arrangements, perfect everything.  But the most important thing to remember is the perfect groom. ( if you're a woman that is ) This seemed to be the case for Stella Carson.  Stella's wedding is in four weeks and she has everything except the groom.  Wanting to fight for his country, her fiance, Marshall Henderson went off to war and got in an accident where he was the only survivor. They were not able to see each other for a year. Now Marshall is coming back home and the happy reunion that Stella imagined did not come through. Even though the man who came back looks and sounds like Marshall, her Marshall did not come home to her. Aft

Bridge Sullivan is what you would call a man's man. He's big, he's strong and he works at a rodeo, you know, you're everyday cow boy.
