Swans Book Review

This has such a good looking cover and an excellent description that it immediately caught my attention. Unfortunately, it did not keep my attention for long. Here's how. This book was interesting.  One way of looking at it is that it piggy-back off the previous book in the series, which is Rainshadow Road.  Or that it ran parallel with the book, either way, it was okay but not great. Alex Nolan had it rough as a kid.  His siblings have already left the house and it left only him to take the brunt of his parents anger at home.  Growing up in this environment has thought him not to rely on anyone, it also has him bitter and cynical. Watching as his brothers made fools of themselves since they are insane enough to believe in love, Alex battles his own demons. His brothers actually think that taking a risk can find them happiness instead of pain. WARNING! Do not read this book unless you have about five boxes of tissues by your side. Maybe I was hormonal when I was reading this book, or maybe I related to Emma, the main character, and her pain. I don't know, all I know is, I cried, A LOT. This book reminded me of +Rachel Lacey 's  book series Love and Rescue.  I instantly related to the book because of this, but the book is loveable by itself. Shay Michaels would do anything to save the furry residents of St. Helena, Califonia. Being a pet groomer in the town, as well as a pet rescuer, Shay hands her hands full 24'7. Even when she is filled to capacity, if anyone comes to her with an animal in need of a home, Shay can never turn them away. Even though, she gets into a lot of trouble for her selfless deeds. One of the people she has to deal with on almost a daily basis is Deputy Jonah Baudouin.  Shay finds him hot and hard to resist but resist him she must. Shay knows Jonah is not looking for a woman like her, and since he is running for Sherriff, he does not need her running his name in the mud. This book was old school with a modern twist.  Do people still get married because of those reasons? I liked this book, but the girl was a little unfair in the middle of the book. I read the last book in the series and that was just a taste to the awesomeness that is Sugar Jamison.  Being a plus size woman myself, her books call to me and how can I resist them. Ellis Garrett is taking one big giant step that anyone can make.  She is dumping her asshole of a boyfriend, quitting her job ( which is a very hard thing to do in today's economy ) to open her own Plus-Size clothing store and started her own blog.
