MISS CAMERON'S FALL FROM GRACE by Helen Dickson

Growing up, I use to sneak away my mom's Mills and Boon romance books because she said that they were to "grown up" for me.  I was reading ahead of everyone in my age group and I wanted something to read, and my mom's books were my target.  Ah, I used to love every Mills and Boon books that I could have gotten my hands on, but now a days, I am sorry to say, I am choosey. Mills and Boon in my opinion quality have declined, I still get some good one now and again, and sadly this book was not one of them. Miss Delphine Cameron, being the last child of five children, all being girls; and with her not being the most sought after male heir her parents in their disappointment, have neglected and more or less rejected her making feel like she has no purpose.  Her spinster of an aunt make her feel for the first time in her life by asking her to volunteer in charity work, by helping the children at the orphanage on Water Lane. At the beginning of the book you will fi

SLEEPLESS IN SCOTLAND by Karen Hawkins

This is not the final book of the series, but this is the last book that I have of the series on my bookshelf.  I keep going to the bookstore, but they do not have any copies of the last book and the store I bought all the other copies moved and did not tell me where. Hugh MacLean wanting to protect his brother from falling into the hands of who he "Hugh" thinks has evil intentions for his oldest brother Alexander;has set a trap for the unlucky lady who dared to mess with his family.  Unfortunately in setting out to prove that he was right, he caught someone else instead and did not realise until it was too late the error of his way. Catriona Hurst, having heard about the ridiculous scheme that her twin sister has cooked up this time, rushed to London in other to stop her sister from making one of the biggest mistake of her life.  Catriona had set out to save her sister from a trap of her own making but instead have been captured instead. Now the only way to save

TO CATCH A HIGHLANDER by Karen Hawkins

This book comes after "To Scotland with Love", as I have mentioned in my last post, each book can be read independently, but I do not recommend it. What would you have done if your father was given the task of selling some jewelry to fix the roof but comes home instead and have lost everything in a gamble. If it was me I would have been furious but not Sophia MacFarlane.  She loved her father and when she learned who he lost the house too, she came up with a plan to win her house back, not fully understanding what really was at stake. Lord Dougal MacLean, having won the deed to a house came to claim his prize when the beautiful that was described to him turned out to look like an unfinished dump.  Unfortunately for them, but fortunately for him, Dougal overheard the plan that they had cooking for him and was able to take all that they threw at him and more. Of course what she was fighting for was something that was most precious to her but what he was fighting fo

TO SCOTLAND WITH LOVE by Karen Hawkins

This book come after "How to abduct a Highland Lord" which was awesome.  The good thing about this series is that you can read each book on it's own, BUT to enhance the reading experience, read all the books, in the correct order of course. Being friend since one has been five and another eight, means that you have a very good friendship, especially when you seek each other's company everyday.  You know all there secret and you theirs and you talk about each and everything that you can think of. Well that friendship changed when Venetia Oglivie, has eloped, without even knowing that she was eloping.  Being of a kind heart, when Venetia heard the news that her mother was not well, she immediately went to her rescue, like she always does, not fully understanding the consequences of riding in a closed carriage with a man, who is not a part of her family. Lord Gregor MacLean, having heard the news when Venetia failed to arrive for their daily morning ride, at onc

HOW TO ABDUCT A HIGHLAND LORD by Karen Hawkins

Some years back I saw this in a store and was immediately interested in the the the of the story, when I read the description on the back I was hooked, and thus my first taste of Karen Hawkins was born. Fiona MacLean, wanting to stop her hotheaded brothers rom doing something foolish (like most brothers do) decided to sacrifice herself in order to end the feud between her family and the Kincaid's; and the only way that she thought of to stop the feud is to marry. Unfortunately, the groom did not come willingly, he was picked up after he fell from his horse and knocked unconscious.  He was woken up in a church where he was married in a drunken stupor. Jack Kincaid, where he is more infamously known as Black Jack Kincaid, did not have a care in the world.  He is the inheritor of a large fortune so he can do what he pleases, when he pleases; and he most definitely did not want to marry, ever.  This "union" was made even worse by the past these two shared, which

THE MARRYING SEASON by Candace Camp

I did it, I read the third book without reading the second one and I have to say, it was not the end of the world.  There were some parts where I was confused about things they said, but it would be all cleared up when I get the second book in the series. Genevieve Stafford, is known as the "ice princess" due to her cool ways and to the family that she was born into, which is said to be cold hearted.  Knowing that she was not going to get a love match like her brother, Alec Stafford, The Earl of Rawdon, she has resigned herself to being married out of duty rather than love. She was due to marry Lord Dursbury when unforeseen circumstances had Sir Thorwood having to renounce their engagement, and quite publicly I might add.   Her only way of not being completely ruin and shunned from the ton is to marry, and no one is to have her hand in marriage after what happened, no one except Sir Myles Thorwood. Myles Thorwood had know Genevieve since they were children and with a

A WINTER SCANDAL by Candace Camp

I bought this book a few years back, and I loved it.  At first I wanted to return it because in my haste, I accidentally picked this one up instead of the Nora Roberts I intended to choose.  But it's funny how life turns out and my slip-up made me discover an amazing author, Candace Camp.  Althea Bainbridge (called Thea), being a vicar's daughter and then sister, had to always abide by the rules in the case that she might embarrass her family.  With everyone thinking her plain and unappealing, having to wear spectacles were not helping matters as well.   Having feeling snubbed that the only romantic experience over ten years ago, was made by a man who forgot about her. That scoundrel. Thea had come to the realization that her life had never had any real meaning, and that she truly had no place to call her own; until one day, when she was decorating the church she came about a baby in a manger, and no it was not the baby Jesus. Shocked at finding a baby abandoned in

RAINSHADOW ROAD by Lisa Kleypas

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! I went into the Library, looking for some Nora Roberts books, and I turned around and what did I see, Rainshadow Road by Lisa Kleypas. I rushed to the counter, borrowed my book and was happy for two days which was how long it took me to finish the book (sad face). Lucy Marinn, a glass maker with a secret wonderful power, got her heart broken by her boyfriend when he left her for someone else.   Her broken heart was then shattered into a million pieces when he told her he was leaving her for her younger sister, and that they are engaged, which he was not able to do with her. Her heart was then put in a safe and locked away, never to be abused again, but also not able to love.  Lucy's parents was outraged by what her sister has done and refused to fund their marriage until they made things right with Lucy. Her ex-boyfriend, had the ridiculously stupid idea of asking an acquaintance to act as her boyfriend, you know, to "help" her

REVERB by J. Cafesin

HI EVERYONE!!!, so sorry about the late review, but with signing up for classes and the total stress, ugh.  Anyhow, J. Cafesin sent me their book to read, and I feel so bad, because they sent it to me a long time ago, but I'm finished now, thank goodness. James Logan, is a man who escapes into the world of music to mask the pain of his past.  Due to the betrayal of his biological father, he was put into a situation where music was no longer an option to him, and he does not know how to cope with the silence, and just wants to end it all. Elizabeth Whitestone, a widowed mother of one who lost her husband in a suicide bombing, runs from the country she have lived in for the past five years, because she felt that at any moment, something was going to happen to her and her son, Cameron. This is a unique love story about two people who have went through really rough times in their lives came together in a unlikely situation and healed each other. I thought that James would ha
