BOOK REVIEW + GIVEAWAY OF NEED YOU FOR ALWAYS by Marina Adair

This was a really fun book to read.  I love books where men secretly lure you into their web of love before you realize what's happening to them.  To both the victim and the guy.

Emerson Blake, but everyone calls her Emi, has a lifelong dream of owning her own Gourmet Food Truck.  A dream both she and her mother had for many years.  The first step to that dream was to enter into culinary school, and that's what Emi did.

Emi was so close to her goal when disaster strikes. Her mother has become ill and her father cannot cope with the pain of losing the love of his life.

This put all the responsibility on Emi to take care of her mother, father and little sister.  That made Emi drop out of culinary school in order to take care of her family.

Always having to be in control was stressful for Emi and she allowed herself to let loose for one night.  And the person she chose to let loose with was Dax Baudouin.  He was perfect since he was on leave from the army and was going back soon.

Years later, and Emi has another shot of attaining her dream.  But time was running out, and she needs more income to make her dream come true.  A new part-time job as a personal chief seems like the solution except for one thing. Dax is back in town and he wants their one night stand to turn into an affair.

Dax only has one mission, go home, get healed and then move far away from home.  But seeing the one-night stand that he just could not get out of his head again after all this time, just might be enough motivation to stay.

Dax is all for them falling in each other's arms and having crazy monkey sex until it's time for him to leave.  But Emi was resisting him at every turn, but instead of giving up on her, the chase just makes him want her more.  Now isn't that just like a man.

But it's not just her sexy body and smart mouth that draw him.  He likes that behind her tough-girl exterior is a girl who longs to spread her wings and fly.  After being in too many battles to count, Dax is in not position to help rescue anyone, so it must have come as a relief to him when she refuses his help.  RIGHT?

The question is, does Dax want to save Emi, or does he want her to save him instead?

Find out in the second installment of The Hero's of St. Helena Series, Need you for Always.

I went into this book without any warning.  I was browsing through Netgalley (which is one of my most favorite things to do these days) when I came across this book.  I did not read the description, once I saw Marina Adair's name on the cover, I instantly requested it.

I had no idea what the book was about and I know that I have to read books like this more often.  I had no expectations and when I reading the book, I ate it up in two days.

I connected with Emi.  When her mom got sick, instead of her father stepping up and taking care of things, he ran screaming like a coward and hid in his imagination.  I know that the love of his life, his soul mate was slowly dying.  But his daughters were also losing a mother and friend.

When he left all of the responsibility to Emi while he played fairy with his youngest child, keeping her in an unrealistic world I was so mad at him.  I understood his pain, and I knew that he had to grieve for a good bit of time, but he left all the work for Emi for far too long, all while he was unemployed. I just wanted to shake him.

Calming myself down from the selfishness of the father, I admired how Emi was able to handle the pressure for all these years.  She was a pro, keeping both her father and sister in line all while maintaining her own food truck.

And in all this time of being in control, she only allowed herself one night of letting go.  Now that's strength and determination.

Dax on the other just want to get away from his hometown.  Not for anything major, he just thinks that he's too big for the small town life.  He also does not like how he feels uncomfortable every time people start to talk about the mom. A mom he does not know.

The chemistry between Dax and Emi was instant and I loved that even though Dax wanted to get up under Emi's skirt, he wooed her and kept wooing her even after he took her to bed.

I enjoyed this book immensely and I can wait to see what's in store for the rest of the series.

HAPPY READING!

GETTING BETTER

Sorry for not updating for a while.  I have been sick for the past week and the glare from my computer screen made my eyes and head hurt more than it did, so I banned myself from my computer until I was better. It has not completely left me yet, but I am getting better and the computer screen no longer hurt my eyes.  The only thing is that I am backed up with all of my reviews.  I read a lot when I was sick, seemed like the only thing I could do.  I did not even have the energy to go to school for the first week. I'm getting better now and look forward for my new reviews and I might post more than one this week.

BED OF ROSES (Book two in the Brides Quarlet) By Nora Roberts

I love flowers but not as much as Miss Emmaline Grant, she lives for them.  Emma is part owner of Vows, which is in the wedding business and Emma's part is with the flowers.  The bouquet, the table center piece, once it involves flowers, Emma does it and does it with a fairy tale quality. Growing up with a love story like her parents, Emma's head constantly romanticizes everything.  She keep looking for Mr Right and she found him in Jack. Jack Cooke is a enjoy them now and leave them before they get to close kind of guy.  His mindset encourages him into not wanting or needing a relationship knowing that they never last and people get hurt. With Emma, there was no holding back and he was constantly hesitating when she says or does something that he thinks violates his space. He constantly hurts Emma unintentionally and Emma feels as if she has to frequently hold back her feelings so as not to scare Jack off. Shit hit the fan when she couldn't take ho...
