This book is a novella, so I was expecting the wham bam sex, and saying the "L" word being said early in the book. Maybe it's because I've read a good bit of erotic romance as well as BDSM books that I realized that the author might not really have a working knowledge of the BDSM world.
When your heart is stuck in the wrong gear, a quick fix isn't going to cut it.
When Noah buys a classic '68 Camaro from a fellow firefighter's widow, he hopes it will ease some of the grief crushing his heart.
But the grinding noise under the car's hood sends him straight to a mechanic. Something about the burly, imposing Hoyt sparks Noah's interest, and it's not just Hoyt's ice-blue eyes and bad-boy biker looks. It's the mutual interest they have--Club LaForge.
After losing his partner to cancer a year ago, Hoyt never thought he'd feel the same kind of rush with another man. But his reaction to Noah throbs deep in his body like the rumble of his Harley.
LaForge seems like the perfect place to meet and work off some sorrow, to feel alive again. But the flood of desire quickly gets hot enough to melt their emotional barriers into unexpected connections.
Connections Hoyt isn't sure he's ready for...especially since history has a scary way of repeating itself.
This book was not what I expected when I read the description. This story felt as if the author heard about BDSM and did not do much research on it and wrote this story. The story was not also very well thought out.
Almost everyone in the Station was involved in Club LaForge. That means that the men were accustom to seeing gay couples going at it, and in some cases, some even took part. So the main reason why Noah wanted to keep his relationship quiet about Hoyt did not feel right with me.
The author also portrayed Hoyt as this silent, broody type, but I did not get that from him. The description of emotions felt off and I could not connect with any of the characters.
I was promised steamy, hot sex scenes and quite honestly, I could not picture the positions that the author put her characters into. One minute they were in this position, then they were in another one, and so on and so forth until they both climax. I was mostly left confused on what had happened and that's not a good thing when it comes to sex scenes.
With a little more time and effort, this book would have been awesome. It had the bones of an excellent novella, but it just fell flat to me. I know every author, at one time or another may feel pressured by a deadline, I really hope this is the case for this one.
