AT THE DUKE'S PLEASURE by Tracey Anne Warren

All the books I choose are like a yo-yo, first one disappoints me and then the next one makes up for it. I'm still in my "trying something new" phase and even with the disappointments in some books, I'm loving trying new authors.  At the Duke's Pleasure is an awesome read that will have you laughing. Edward Byron, Duke of Clybourne, has had his life planned out since the day he was born.  What school he had to attend, the friends he was to keep and worst of all, what bride he was to take.  This was too much for a boy of ten to take and he rebelled (quietly) against having a bride, ten years his junior.  Now Edward is in his early thirty's and finally saw the wisdom of his father choosing a bride for him, but when he goes to claim his bride, would she have him? Claire Marsden has always known that she was to marry a Duke and has been excited about the marriage until her heart was broken at the tender age of sixteen. To further add insult to injury, her...

YOU'RE ALL I NEED by Karen White-Owens

My library is back baby, YEAH.  It opened it's brand new door with their brand new look but the best part is, they kept their old staff.  When I entered again for the first time after all this time, I was so happy and borrowed two books to read, (even though I have so much e-books at home to read).  This is a story with a twist and I liked it, but was not satisfied by. Tia Edwards wants to make it in her chosen career whilst also maintaining a healthy relationship with her boyfriend, when it all goes downhill (Okay, it went downhill with the boyfriend, not her job), can anyone help her mend her broken heart? Enters Christophe Jensen, he's a new attorney from the home office in France, and for the past few weeks, these two have been flirting like crazy, but now with her ex-boyfriend out of the way, will Tia allow herself trust a man again, (she better) Finally feeling like her life is getting back on track, a family emergency has Tia at a cross-road between living...

THE HIGHLAND HENCHMAN by Amy Jarecki

After reading "The Angel and the Warrior" I really needed a book to pick me up and I am so glad that this book did just the trick.  The only thing that irked me was that the heroine in this book upset me greatly. Needing royal assistance, Baron Ross issued a tournament to enchant the Highlanders to leave their land and come to the Lowlands to take part.  What he really wanted was for the Highlanders to fight a dangerous battle that would get most of them killed. After the tournament the Highland Lairds choose instead to entrust their best warriors to stay and fight. This was not exactly what Baron Ross wanted but he knew that he could not change their mind so he accepted. Bran MacLeod was one of the warriors that was left behind, and even though he did not like it, he knew that he can never go against his Laird.  It did not help matters that their was a dangerous instant attraction between him and the baron's last daughter.  Bran knows that getting involved ...

THE ANGEL AND THE WARRIOR by Karen Kay

This book was my next stop on my "Try something new" angle that I just made up.  I have to say that up to now I was enjoying trying new things and then I read this book.  I'm not saying it was bad, but it needs some improvement if it wants to be great.  (In my opinion) Swift Hawk was just ten years old when the medicine man of his clan told him that his people are not part of the living but neither are they part of the dead.  So what I understood from this is that they are somewhere in limbo, waiting for a chance to be free. Swift Hawk was told that he had to go into the world of the living to right the wrong that his people did unto the world, and then, and only then can his people be free.  But how was he to do this?  A vision of an angel was sent to him, and when he set out to find the angel, she was not exactly what he was expecting. Angelia Honeywell is on the run from the law with her brother Julian, whilst their father negotiate for their ch...

WHEN A LAIRD TAKES A LADY by Rowan Keats

Alright, apparently my theme this time around is to read books from authors I have never even heard about.  So far, I am having fun enjoying new things whilst discovering new authors; but one thing I would LOVE to know, is their a sequel to this book because seriously, Rowan Keats left me hanging. Isabail Grant was abducted from her entourage, when she was on her way to the King, with her lady maid. They were taken into the mountains to either await to be ransomed or raped and killed.  After a failed attempt of escaping almost got them killed, when the leader of her kidnappers arrived to take her back, Isabail is more inclined to follow him than die.  She already lost everything, she did not want to also lose her life. Aiden MacCurran must find evidence of the innocence of his clan or lose his land and forever be outcasts. Falsely accused of a crime he did not commit, Aiden must find answers to what he seeks and he can get it from none other than Miss Isabail Grant...

IT HAPPENED ONE WEDDING by Julie James

This is the first time that I have read anything from Julie James and it was very entertaining.  It was refreshing to read something that is like the other books I read but have it's own unique touched to it that made it quite an enjoyable read. Sidney Sinclair's time is running out, her biological clock is ticking as well as finding a date for her younger sister's wedding. After having been through a humiliation with the end of her own engagement, Sidney plans to protect herself from making the same kind of mistake again.   Sidney vows for no more men who are players, not secure in their jobs or have bad relationships with their parents.  She even came up with rules that she goes through on each date she takes, and believe me their were a lot of rules.  Sidney thought that she rules would keep her safe until she met  Vaughn Roberts. Vaughn Roberts was out to have coffee before meeting his brother when he me a sexy little red in the shop he was in. ...

PRINCE CHARMING by Julie Garwood

Prince Charming is my second to last book that I own of Julie Garwood.  Some how I lost my copy of Gentle Warrior and I am not happy about that, not at all and when I went into the bookstore to buy a new one, they did not have a copy.  Can you believe that, but, I did get the book Ransom and that is going to be the next and last book I read of Julie Garwood, for now. Taylor Stapleton will do anything for the greater good, even if that means that she has to marry a complete stranger to do so.  Taylor then has to sneak away at midnight not to raise any suspicions to get away from the evil that living in her home.  Lucas Ross, wanting to save his brother agreed to wed Taylor in exchange for money to help his brother.  Lucas never wanted to get married but extreme circumstances has made him do it. That's not all he had to do, he had to take her to Boston in America safely; thinking that they would go their separate ways after reaching Boston, the greater go...

THE LION'S LADY by Julie Garwood

All right guys, The Lion's Lady is my next stop on my Julie Garwood book marathon and I have to say, I loved it.  The trails and errors, and there were many of them just came together and made a perfect book with a not so perfect ending.  Let me explain. Two mothers, both grew up at different sides of the road and were thought to hate each other; have bonded over their past pain and made a pact to look after each other's child if something was to ever happen to them. Unfortunately, something happened to one of them and the other was true to their promise and took on the task of raising her child, but when she arrived home, everyone was excited to see her again, but not so much for the unexpected little bundle she arrived with. Years later, after the child has grown, she was sent back to her own people to complete what her mother has started, even though it pains them all to send her away. Christina Bennet has taken London by storm and has quickly gained the nickname...

THE WEDDING by Julie Garwood

A heart that was nurtured to seek revenge against the people responsible for his father's murder and the destruction of his home has left Connor MacAlister without a day of true peace. With vengeance in his heart and revenge on his mind, Connor would do anything to humiliate his enemy, including abducting his enemy's future wife and marrying her for himself. Lady Brenna was taking a break by a stream when she heard a shout from her camp, when she arrived it was to see that five "outcast" have subdued her guards and and all she can do was pray to save them. When their intentions were clear, Lady Brenna agreed to marry their leader (Connor) in exchange for the release of her guards, and the most troubling thing to me is that she was worried about the war paint that her future husband was wearing more than being married against her will. With his task of taking his enemy's bride completed, Connor is convinced that his life would stay the same with little t...
